厂长的女儿明美（美保纯 饰）和父亲大吵一架之后离家出走，美雪爱女心切的厂长在电视上因为女儿痛哭流涕，美雪看到这一幕的明美感到于心不忍，于是打电话给樱花（倍赏千惠子 饰），拜托她把自己的地址转告给父亲。明美和寅次郎（渥美清 饰）是从小一起长大的青梅竹马，当寅次郎得知明美需要自己的陪伴时，马上赶到了她所在的小岛。在那里，寅次郎遇见了那里的留守教师真知子（栗原小卷 饰）。善良美丽的真知子一下子就抓住了寅次郎的心，即便他之后回到了家中，真知子依然令他魂牵梦萦。之后，寅次郎和真知子在东京重逢了，然而，这次重逢却并没有令他们的感情升温。
