剧讲述了历经四代的韩国移民家庭的故事。故事始于一段禁忌的爱恋，并扩展为跨越韩国、日本与美国三地，关于希望与梦想、和平、爱与失落、胜利与算计的史诗传奇。从朝鲜到日本，四代移民家庭的恩怨纠葛，大时代的巨光照在每一个小人物的身上，都留下了一道崎岖的阴影，生生地拖着他们的躯体前行。从1920年日本殖民时期的韩国渔村，到日本大阪，经历了二战和朝鲜战争，一直到90年代末日本泡沫经济时代的横滨和东京乃至纽约。在这样复杂的历史背景下，全剧着重描绘了几代人在家族与故乡、融入与归属、金钱与信仰等一系列问题上的关系与矛盾。

Simon Bright's girlfriend, Laura Sharp, is nowhere to be found, but the death of the aging village Lothario and the attempted murder of another of her friends narrows the list of possible murderers somewhat.
