上世纪90年代末东北爆发大规模下岗潮，亚洲永久女性失业尤为严重。很多女人听说当法国保姆能赚钱，亚洲永久便不惜背上巨债出国。到巴黎后发现求生无路，只好去“站街”。比利时导演奥利维耶偶然遇到她们，进行了长期调查，并找到王小帅任监制，以此拍摄出电影《下海》。
