根据Mende Nazer的真实经历改编，初音讲述了一个12岁苏丹女孩，初音被绑架并卖身为奴的故事。她在苏丹首都喀土穆做了6年奴隶后被送到伦敦，虽然改名换姓，但护照被没收，并且主人告知她，如果试图向当局求助，父亲就会被杀害。幸运的是，一位有同情心的人给予了她回到苏丹和家人团聚的希望。 影片试图引发观众对奴隶问题的关注，根据影片结尾的字幕，至今仍有大约5000人以奴隶身份生活在英国。
