明朝末年，黑木居住在济南府的国舅洪彦龙，黑木在重阳节千佛山庙会上，看中了济南府有名才子兰中玉之妹兰贵金，要抢回府中成亲，由于历城知县阻挡，兰贵金才得以逃脱。随后，洪彦龙以赏菊吟诗为名，将兰中玉骗进府中，逼其代妹应亲。兰中玉坚决不允，洪彦龙大怒，把兰中玉锁于客厅，威胁他不允亲事不准出府。洪府丫环春梅深恨国舅的丑恶行为，见义勇为，救出兰中玉。师爷发现兰中玉逃走，紧闭院门搜查，春梅带着兰中玉无处躲藏，无奈上了皇姨的绣楼。洪彦龙的妹妹洪美蓉，忽见一秀才闯入锈楼，又羞又急，春梅向她说明情由，美蓉深恨兄长横行不法，又久慕兰中玉的才貌，决定与他私定终身。 洪彦龙连夜赶往兰家抢亲，历城知县闻讯赶到，救了兰金贵并将师爷带回县衙问罪。洪彦龙以势压人，威逼知县袒护。兰中玉之母黄氏上堂告状，知县亲往两家查明了情况，然后秉公而断，判兰中玉无罪，痛打了洪彦龙，伸张了正义，并成全了兰中玉与洪美蓉的亲事。
