莉莉自家乡到洛杉矶求学，国产住进学生宿舍看到死去的艾薇日记，国产因自己缺少信心，为日记中的大胆假想，憧憬自己变成美丽诱人的女郎，周旋在同学葛丁与教授唐纳之间，造成两人的敌对，以致毁坏了教授的婚姻，后来教授堕楼而死，莉莉终于觉悟，不必标新立异而与葛丁重修旧好。

As life at home gets harder, her battle with her grandfather exacerbates. Caught in between their struggle are Chuskit's parents and her enterprising brother who want to respect the old world views that Dorje represents, but also want to keep Chuskit's spirit alive. Chuskit will have to get her grandfather to yield or she will have to accept the reality he has chosen for her.
